Kendall Jenner, V Magazine

Kendall Jenner, V Magazine Spring issue 2017

Kardashian-Jenner Korps young fashion envoy Kendall Jenner has a serpentine airbrushed temporary tattoo on her cheek and upper thigh and pulling on a black Victoria’s Secret thong in a black and white off-the-shoulder top by Vera Wang for American fashion and trends quarterly V Magazine’s Spring issue, shot by famed Peruvian fashion and portrait photographer Mario Testino and featuring on one of its six alternate covers.

alt. appropriation?

Kendall has found disapproval for being were some suggest she shouldn’t or shouldn’t be what she isn’t before—e.g. on the cover of fashion bible Vogue US (artofgladstonetibbs.com, Latest picks 13th Aug. 2016) and a pretend ballerina for Vogue España (19th Dec. 2016)—and that faux tattoo is likely to provoke those in angry cliques on alt. porn and culture tattoo heavy sites (with emphasis on the subscriber bare boobs, wishlists and dating) to cry “cultural appropriation!”—those not suggesting a drunk demi Lovato peed on their alt. toilet seat after not giving them a shoutout (artofgladstonetibbs.com, Pick of the Week May 2015) at least.

But, then again, does pop culture require inspirational appropriation to avoid it stagnating somewhere around when Tony Iommi—now writing choral music for Birmingham Cathedral (bbc.co.uk)—was penning and calling for “Sabbath Bloody Sabbath” with writers block and, indeed, Elvis was still shaking hips in imitation of what used to be only allowed on the other side of the road, neither being totally original or above a lil’ appropriation (Wikipedia)—and thankful we should be for it—while rock—alt. or not—is on it’s way to being the new—but still as heavy on the appropriation as all—alt-conservatism, alas (nytimes.com, Dec. 2006).

And, living up to that Instagirl/Social Media Modelling soubriquet she either appropriated or helped define for Vogue and Harper‘s Bazaar, gave bikini tummy for “Vitamin D” and “chaos” on Instagram.
